God Answers Prayer

After all the rain, there looked like there was going to be a break Saturday, maybe.  The workmen came to work on the pool and said that they only needed 2-3 hours to finish the task.  I prayed aloud for the Lord to keep away the rain until they finished the work and, although there were dark clouds all around, it didn't rain until they finished.  I drew my prayer to their attention and pointed out that God had answered it.  I told them, and am telling you, pray!  Our Father knows and is waiting for your prayers.  He can and does answer them. As the VBS song goes, "The miracle you need may be just a prayer away."

Being Content

When you can't have what you want, want what you have. When there is a grey cloud, find the silver lining. There is always one there. It has rained and rained here.  Grey cloud.   So easy to get down.  Yet, this means I do not have to run the sprinklers.  Low water bill and I don't have to be at home to turn them off.  Silver lining. Or put another way, have faith. God DOES cause all things to work together for the good for those who love Him! (Romans 8:28)

Ants and Sin

We have tiny ants in our walls.  From time to time we see one and squish it.  We wash the counter with bleach water and antibacterial soap and put poison along their obvious pathways.  Yet every time we go into the kitchen there is at least one near the sink. We don't know where all they are coming in from.  The exterminator came, put poison in one hole where they were coming out, but told us the poison would only last a week or two.  Sure enough, they are back, one at a time. Those ants are like our sin.  We can cleanse ourselves and try to keep ourselves clean, but we need be ever diligent.

We all have a sin nature, a selfish side.  No one has to teach little children to be selfish or say, "MINE!" I hate my own self centeredness.  I am both thankful and unhappy when the Holy Spirit convicts me.  Example, At Costco.  One of the workers was in the deli line behind me.  When I asked her about her family, she told me that it was her daughter's 13th birthday.  She said she was buying a pizza to take home from work and then they were taking their daughter to a movie.  I was so full of myself, I gave her all sorts of advice about living with and raising a teenage girl. I SHOULD have asked what movie they were going to see and I SHOULD have considered paying for the pizza, which she had ordered but hadn't paid for yet. I was thinking of me and the wisdom I could impart instead of thinking of her. The Holy Spirit let me know before I even sat down, but she had already left.

As with our ants, when we discover ourselves being selfish, or overly worried, or whatever isn't Godly, we need to immediately admit it, turn from it and praise God for His promise to forgive us.  If we think it is a one time deal, that we we can cleanse ourselves once and for all of our selfishness, we deceive ourselves.  We won't get rid of all the ants with just one shot or permanently either.

God Will Make a Way

A difficulty I had was that as I discover great truths in the Bible, I was bursting to share them. Some people who have read my books have called them life changing because the books have changed the way they read and think about the Bible and apply it to their lives. When we lived in Tucson, I taught the truths as I discovered them to adults in Bible Study. The first book, "Why God Lets People Suffer" came about because they insisted I reach a wider audience.  Now that we moved to Florida, The books sit on a self here and I'm not  teaching in a classroom.  I tell the Lord that I don't understand why the books aren't selling and why I'm not having the opportunity to stand in front of a class.  I was bursting to share what I've learned in years of reading and rereading the Bible.  Yet, at the same time, I was and am overwhelmed with gratitude with the ministries God has given me here, being my Sweetheart's sunshine, talking to people as I am out and about, and writing what I call Monday Smiles that go out to over 100 people a week. My Sweetheart has been after me for a while to post these Smiles. Recently I discovered, on average, between 90 and 100+ people a day have checked out this website this year.   So we have added  His Truth in Our Lives, the lessons I've learned that I have shared and will share in my Monday Smiles. I feel terrible that I complained to the Lord when He's given me so much to share and this avenue to share it.

The lesson I learned from this?  There is a song from a tape called "Guidepost Junction" that I used to listen with our son, Will, when he was little.  It goes, "God will make a way when there seems to be no way.  He works in ways we cannot see.  He will make a way for me."  Just keep on keeping on, doing what we know we are supposed to be doing. That is the best any of us can do, follow where the Lord leads us.  What a blessing when we know we are doing that.

My Broken heart

The country and the world have changed SO much in the last 30-40 years. A lady at church I met yesterday said she wished they still had the draft.  At first I was appalled.  When I thought about it more, I realized the moral decay of this country pretty much began when the draft was stopped.  I wonder.  I don't know how I'd cope with the changes if I didn't believe the Bible is absolutely true.  I've believed that since the beginning of fourth grade.  With the New Testament, I know how it will progress downhill and how it will end. My heart breaks for our and so many friends' unsaved loved ones and for friends from childhood who do not believe.  The Lord said, "Do not let your heart be troubled.", but it still is hard to see that which you love and those whom you love grow ever more toward destruction. Let us all pray for our and each others' unsaved loved ones.
